Thai princess provides 106 scholarships to Cambodian students

The eldest daughter of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Princess Chakri Sirindhorn (pictured), has decided to provided 106 scholarships to Cambodian students to further their education in Thailand, reports everyday.com.

The offer of the Princess Chakri Sirindhorn Scholarships was announced in a meeting at Kampong Cheuteal College in Kampong Thom province between officials from the Cambodian Department of Education and the commander of the princess's Royal Guard, Gen. Wapirom Manasrangsee, on 15th December.

The scholarships, which will be spent out of her own private purse, will be awarded to Cambodian students to further their studies in Thai universities in various fields. The scholarships cover the period from 2010 through to 2013.


Princess Sirindhorn has been actively contributing to the development of education in Cambodia since 2002 when she sponsored and financed the renovations and constructions of Kampong Cheuteal College in Kampong Thom. Nowadays, she still continue to finance the operations of Kampong Cheuteal College.
